USCIS Notices
Received an RFE? Organize before you respond
A Request for Evidence is time-sensitive. A structured response helps the reviewing officer match every request to the supporting evidence.
Read the whole notice
Confirm the response deadline, submission address or online method, receipt number, and every issue listed. The deadline shown on the notice controls; submitting a consultation request through this website does not protect it.
Create a response map
List each request in the order it appears. Under every item, identify the document, explanation, or legal analysis needed. Do not ignore an item because similar evidence was included previously.
Assemble a clean packet
Place the RFE notice or requested response sheet first when instructed, followed by a cover index and clearly labeled exhibits. Include readable copies and complete certified translations where required.
Know when to seek counsel
Questions about eligibility, inadmissibility, credibility, prior filings, fraud allegations, criminal history, or legal strategy require advice from a licensed immigration attorney or accredited representative.
